Just terminology. Both involve the atomic nucleus.
The definition and differentiation are not mine.The practical difference is between kiloton and megaton of yield. The nuclear bomb uses the atomic bomb as a detonator. The only devices ever used in war were kiloton devices, (ie...atomic).
