“It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink” (Proverbs 31:4).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink” (Proverbs 31:4).

The Bible has a lot to say about liquor. Now, notice that it didn't say, “It is not for kings to get drunk.” It didn't say that, it said “It is not for Kings to drink.” Now, if you are saved, did you realize that you are a King? In Revelation 5:10 it says that God has “made us unto our God kings and priests; and we shall reign on the earth.” You're born to reign with Jesus Christ in the Millennium. Christian, “It is not for kings to drink wine.”

I drank plenty before I got saved, but I tell you what, after I got saved, I didn't need it anymore. I didn't need that crutch to fall on when times went bad. I didn't need that thing to rely on when I got down, or when I needed a pick me up. I didn't need a pick me up, I have the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour. I can go to him, and, anyway, He said, “Be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,” the Holy Spirit of God. I'm sure some of you probably think folks are crazy that run around up here slapping their hands and clapping. They are just drunk. They are about as high as they can get on the Holy Spirit. They are high on something, and they won't have a hangover afterwards.

They just kind of get filled up with this thing here, they probably just took a good healthy drink before they came tonight. That things like water, “the washing of the water of the word,” that's good water there. All liquor is, is just water that's been fooled with, and tampered with. That's good water, and folks just took a real big healthy drink of that before they came tonight. It will do something for you. It will make you peculiar.

People say, “Why do they act like? That isn’t even acting very religious. They not trying to act religious. They are saved. I was religious before I got saved, now I'm saved and going to heaven.

“It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink.” Mixed drinks, and stuff like that. Liquor.

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise” (Proverbs 20:1).

“Wine is a mocker,” it will make a fool out of you. liquor will make a fool out of you. It will make you do some of the craziest, stupidest things that a person could possibly do. “Wine is a mocker,” it mocks you. We know what a person is called when they are not wise; they are called a fool.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
