And we are just kidding ourselves if we think something is going to get done. WE are all complicit in this. WE who elect representatives beholden to the Gun Lobby and the NRA. WE who do nothing to hold our “leaders” to account. Columbine was 30+ years ago. A CAREER in Congress. What have they done? Nothing...
Until we march in the streets like people did for black lives matter - until we protest in such large numbers that the Mall is full of people from Lincoln to the Capitol why should they do anything? It will simply fade away again as it always does.
Call your Senators. Call your Congressman. Tell them to walk onto the floor with a common sense bill that amends the 2nd amendment. I’ve never seen a single representative do that. Not one. Because they know that’ll be the day their career is over. They are guilty. We are guilty. The media are guilty. It goes round and round.
What is the solution?
So, of the 40,000 or so gun laws currently on the books, none of them are “common sense”?
Guns aren’t the problem angry violent kids with free u fettered access to gun Free zones where other innocent kids are def3nseless agaisn them is the problem.
[[Tell them to walk onto the floor with a common sense bill that amends the 2nd amendment.]]
And just for the record- what constitution violating amendments would you suggest? What further gun restricting laws would you propose? What specific gun laws woudl have stopped any of the mass shooters in your opinion?
sorry- just one more quick point- not only are there around 20,000 actual gun laws on the books (I see that i typed 40 before- that was a mistake- should have been 20,000), but there are an astonishing 300,000 statutes regulating guns on the books already-
“What Is the Total Number of State and Federal Laws? There are already more than 300 thousand statutes in the United States that are only devoted to the regulation of weapons.”

We don’t need more “Common sense laws and statutes”- We have mountains of “common sense gun laws” that have been enacted already— What we We need is just some common sense- period- Gun free zones like schools is not common sense- Teachers should be armed- and schools should have several armed guards as well- as well as methods to prevent anyone who is armed who doesn’t belong there from getting in
