I also deplore ‘scripture rationing messages’, where only a verse or two is mentioned. You have an audience that, for the most part, doesn’t read their Bible. The message needs to be dominated by the Word.

Preachers are not immune from suffering personality disorders. Talking about yourself excessively and talking a lot without saying anything meaningful are both symptoms of such disorders.
Yes. At the funeral of my husband’s aunt, the pastor waxed at length about his recent trip to Egypt. The woman had spent 90 years as a servant of Christ in motherhood, teaching, and missionary work. The pastor spoke of none of that. I was furious.
