I have met Jehovah Witnesses that knew what various denominations teach, yet they themselves don’t believe those teachings.
In Paul’s testimony to king Agrippa, he mentioned that he was certain that the king was aware of the message of Christ, “for this thing was not done in a corner.” (Acts chapter 26). Agrippa told Paul that he almost persuaded him to be a Christian. There would seem to be preaching, teaching, and a personal testimony included in that story.
As far as sketchy pastors and evangelists, I know I have met/heard some that were not called. Of course the scriptures say that would be the case.
Yes, I’ve been to some funerals where the minister was off on a rabbit trail. Once it was the deceased own son-in-law.
