Washington, D.C. Newsroom, May 20, 2022 / 14:41 pm Archbishop Samuel Aquila of Denver released a statement Friday in support of San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone’s decision to deny Communion to Nancy Pelosi because of her persistence in supporting abortion.
“I support and commend my brother bishop for making this courageous, compassionate, and necessary decision,” Aquila said. “I know Archbishop Cordileone to be a shepherd with the heart and mind of Christ, who truly desires to lead others towards Christ’s love, mercy, and promise of eternal salvation.”
Cordileone’s announcement came out Friday at 3 p.m. EDT and explained that the reasoning for his decision is ”purely pastoral, not political.”
Aquila says that Cordileone’s notification to Pelosi and his separate letter to the priests of the archdiocese “clearly articulates the Church’s teaching on abortion, details the extensive efforts he made to have dialogue with Speaker Pelosi, and explains the canonical and pastoral reasons for this decision.”
Aquila encouraged the faithful of his archdiocese to read the separate letters that Cordileone issued.
Aquila quoted Cordileone saying, “conversion is always better than exclusion, and before any such action can be taken it must be preceded by sincere and diligent efforts at dialogue and persuasion.”
Cordileone “has made every attempt to try and avoid this step," the Denver archbishop added.

She will now use her power to go full Nazi against the Church.
She may not, and pray.
She’s out of control. I’m glad the Church finally took a stand.
Don’t mess with Vito Corleone’s first cousin!
Cordileone: Friend of the Devil
Decision released Friday at 3 PM. The hour our Lord died on the Cross. Trying to communicate to her that our Lord died on the Cross for our sins, and that while they all nailed Him there, especially grievous are the grave ones like public support for abortion.
Pelosi, Biden, etc, when will or will they ever accept the Lord’s words?:
“You cannot serve God and mammon.”- Mt 6:24 (See also Lk 16:13)
And she’s 82 and he’s an old 79!

I’m glad they finally said something, but I know they let that butcher get away with it for decades; they are only doing this because it is very clear at this point that Catholics themselves can’t take their religious leaders seriously. The leaders never cared until it became very clear that the dwindling number of older parishioners are generally not being replaced by ANY young ones; the young people see the leaders have no faith, only outstretched palms.
Here in NJ our bishops made a public statement last week about abortion; very late to the game, so I suspect their motives.
It is done on Friday afternoons to minimize news coverage, nothing more. He probably alerted her he had to say something, and she probably asked if it could wait until Friday afternoon (and he apparently agreed).
If there was anything religious about it, he would have done it a long time ago.
Better late, than never, i.e., your hero Boobie Barron.
