FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER
JOHN 13:16-20
Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus announces his betrayal just after transforming bread and wine into his Body and Blood.
It is of great moment that, immediately after this extraordinary event,
Jesus speaks of treachery:
“The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.”
In the biblical reading, God’s desires have been, from the beginning, opposed.
Consistently, human beings have preferred the isolation of sin to the festivity of the sacred meal.
Theologians call this tendency the mysterium iniquitatis (the mystery of evil),
for there is no rational ground for it.
Therefore, we should not be too surprised that,
as the sacred meal comes to its richest possible expression,
evil accompanies it.
Judas the betrayer expresses the mysterium iniquitatis with particular symbolic power,
for he had spent years in intimacy with Jesus,
taking in the Lord’s moves and thoughts at close quarters and sharing table fellowship with him—and yet,
he saw fit to turn Jesus over to his enemies.
Those of us who regularly gather around the table of intimacy with Christ
and yet engage consistently in the works of darkness are meant to see ourselves in the betrayer.
“...festivity of the sacred meal...Those of us who regularly gather around the table of intimacy with Christ...”
___________
Meals? Tables?
Sacrifice. Altar.
One of the most intriguing questions Shapiro asks is, “As a Jew, how does it feel that there’s other religions that don’t think you’re getting into heaven. So let me ask you, what’s the Catholic view on who gets into heaven and who doesn’t?”
Bishop Barron answers, “The Second Vatican Council says it very clearly, ‘Christ is the privileged route to salvation, that God so loved the world He gave his only son that we might find eternal life.’
Barron used VCII to lie to Ben Shapiro and thus discourage him from considering converting to the one true faith.
VC II is evil and Barron and Bergoglio are its rotten fruits.
Murph, this is what the Bible states: "Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me."
Why would Boobie Barron use VC II lie to poor Ben Shapiro and jeopardize the man's salvation, if he himself was not performing in works of darkness in betraying Christ?
Christ never said He was the privileged way; Barron inserted that word.
What part of, No man cometh to the Father, but by me" do you and Barron not understand?
Sorry.
No sale.
Meal, table, participation, fellowship, breaking bread, supper...
IMHO all these notions collectively serve to do is gravely distract the lay faithful at the Novus Ordo mass. Instead, they should always have at the forefront of their mind the fact that they are assisting at a re-presentation of Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary.
You know that there never used to be a “Liturgy of the Word”, right? This business about first “celebrating” the “Liturgy of the Word”, followed by the Liturgy of the Eucharist, this did not exist before the Novus Ordo. The fact that the faithful are drawn to contemplate two successive “liturgies” suggests that the two are equal in importance. The net effect, as with seemingly everything in Novus Ordo-world, is to suppress appreciation for the sacrificial and re-presentational aspects of Holy Mass.
Fifty-plus years of this, ML. The damage this has done is so tremendous and widespread. The faithful need to finally reject it and demand a full and complete reversion to to the authentic faith, starting with getting back to a pre-Bugnini Roman Missal (meaning, pre-1948).

Read your Old Testament...
Put down the bottle.
You just don't get it, Murph. It's modernism and VC II which are the problem.
Boobie Barron used VC II to mislead Ben Shapiro about the necessity of faith in Christ for salvation.
Bergoglio uses VC II to outlaw the TLM and allow adulterers to receive Holy Communion.
Are you not sickened by the "Spirit of VC II"?
No, no such use, i.e., as a scapegoat.
That said, IMHO, the case for reverting to the Vetus Ordo is open and shut.
And this Guy knows him some Novus Ordo.

Worth a listen.
From Anthony Stine’s youtube channel.
Cardinal Mueller recently employs the traditional rite of ordination for new priests and deacons.
In doing so he is braving the resentment and ire of his German colleagues and of Bergoglio.
In his sermon, Cardinal Mueller urged them priests and deacons he is ordaining to be and remain rigid in their faith.
He differentiates between the sacrificial priesthood and the priesthood of all the faithful.
He hammers away at the sacrificial nature of the mass.
Worth a listen.

Sorry:
Cardinal Mueller cites the “sacramental priesthood”, not what I mistakenly said (i.e., sacrificial priesthood).
I would add that the sacramental priesthood is in danger of being snuffed out and replaced, at least in part, in many of the functions they traditionally perform, by members of the lay faithful, and that the so-called Synod of Synods is paving the way for just that to occur.
