Amman (Agenzia Fides) - The Hashemite dynasty of Jordan will continue to exercise its historical responsibility for the protection and protection of the Christian and Islamic Holy Places of Jerusalem with even more vigor and determination, so that Christians and Muslims can continue to freely practice their rites and liturgies in these places , without being intimidated and hindered by unilateral and “fait accompli” measures that violate the rules and undermine the coexistence of faith communities in the Holy City.

King Abdallah II himself reaffirmed the historic responsibility for the protection exercised by the Jordanian royal family for the Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He did so on Monday evening, April 25, during the official fast-breaking at the Al-Husseiniya Royal Palace in Amman, attended by senior officials from Jerusalem's Christian and Islamic communities on one of the final days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The banquet was attended by, among others, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilus III, Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, and the Jordanian Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

In recent weeks, tensions and clashes around the Christian and Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem's Old City have escalated again. Clashes broke out between Palestinian Muslims and Israeli police forces on the esplanade of the Mosques in Jerusalem last week, while the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem deplored restrictions imposed by Israel on the number of worshipers in and around the Church of the Holy Sepulcher on April 23 , Holy Saturday, the day on which the traditional ceremony of the Holy Fire takes place at the beginning of the Easter Vigil, and April 24th, the Orthodox Easter Sunday for the Churches that follow the Julian calendar.

Nice of him to think he has an obligation. But frankly under their rule prior to 1967 Jews and Christians could not go to their holy sites. So since the war in 1967 the world has been able to go to all of the holy sites. Israel is the rightful guardian and steward of all the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim holy sites within their borders

Why is this surprising or even controversial ?

I understand conflict, but this is not a proper hill today

I worked for an MIT grad guy from Jordan for several years in the 90s

and he was a good guy I would consider working for him again maybe?

he wore a little chain with a cross. We never talked about it cause I do not believe there are a measurable % of real Christians, and did not care much.

One night, I think at a club some girl asked him where Jordan was

He listed every single country in the area except one.

strange

King Abdallah II needs to take on Royal Responsibility for his ancestor having rendered Jerusalem, Samaria, and Judea (and Jordan) Judenfrei, and then pay Israel reparations. Oh, and shut his stupid muzzie mouth from now on.

”and then pay Israel reparations.“

Are you lining up to pay “reparations” to black Americans?

You flatter yourself. I merely ask the question; my understanding had been that conservatives generally oppose reparations, and holding people accountable for events for which they aren’t responsible.

Can you explain why this particular situation is an exception to those positions, or do you had that reparations are justified on a wider basis?

Trump brought the Middle East together as they and we faced a common enemy, Iran. Biden has destroyed this all. With Trump the UAE, Egypt, Jordon, Oman, Saudi, and Israel had common goals.

Why in the hell does not Saudi and the UAE pump more oil to reduce prices and thus save Biden’s political ass? They have the oil but will not pump extra.

The answer is quite simple. Biden has placated Iran and the UAE and Saudi have said F—k you Biden.

Biden, like Kerry and Obama, are on Iran's side.

I think the only reason the Saudis didn't join the Abraham Accords was their fragile internal politics, which are partly corrupted by Iranian espionage. Anyone who thinks we have problems now doesn't have any idea what they're talking about.

OTOH, if I were sitting on all that oil and the idiot Russians with whom I'd hammered out a production agreement managed to **** up as they have, I'd just quietly pile up the money.

Nations don't have friends and relatives, nations have interests.

No, I don’t flatter myself. I don’t explain myself either, least of all to people who feign concern and/or curiousity.

”I don’t explain myself either“

That’s pretty funny - when your two options are a) admitting to being a hypocrite or b) admitting to holding a far-left position (ie support for reparations), you deem your best course of action to be a haughty attempt at redirection, as if that even remotely minimizes how clearly highlighted how distasteful your position must be, one way or the other.

Thanks for playing, idiot.
