It says more about you that you generalize criticism of the sins of Catholicism at ‘hate’ than me.

So it’s someone else’s fault and Catholicism bears no responsibility for allowing sodomy to not only thrive in but take over an entire order?

Is that what you’re saying?

but as you know fully, a church is its people and doctrine, not its leadership...

The leadership is the ones responsible for the direction of the church and it's their job, appointed by God to be responsible for that. They set the tone for the condition of the church.

For a religion that claims to have given us the Bible, they sure do a lot to ignore its clear teachings on church leadership and dealing with sin in it.

This is what GOD's word tells us. HIS requirements for the church.

1 Timothy 3:1-13 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

Titus 1:5-16 This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

1 Corinthians 5:1-13 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.

For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

That precludes taking communion with someone like that.

2 John 1:4-11 I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father. And now I ask you, dear lady—not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

Galatians 5:19-24 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

What's appalling and disgusting is the casual attitude so many Catholics have towards the sin rife within their own ranks. Not only is it glossed over with *They're just sinners like the rest of us*, and *Nobody's perfect*, the *boys will be boys* attitude contributes to the moral corruption.

We hear *Once a priest, always a priest* and that despite a priest maybe molesting kids the day before a mass, he is still qualified to offer it up *if his intent is pure*.

Horse hockey. They are fortunate God does not strike them dead Himself for such flagrant, in your face disregard for His commands and the vile misrepresentation to the world of who Christ is.

If you all hated sin and the sin within your ranks as much as you all hate people who expose it, your church would be a force for good to be reckoned with.

Drug fueled sex orgies hosted at the Vatican simply do not convey that message.

Isn’t praying to dead people, more commonly called necromancy?

Little anecdote to share with you.

Last week it was Holy Week, and I went to Palm Sunday mass at a local prominent Catholic church.

The priest who gave the homily was a young guy, but he gave me that sort of weird vibe. Not a good one.

He began his homily with great glee and enthusiasm. "I have a confession to make, to ALL of you."

He paused. (for dramatic effect, I suppose)

"I just LOVE praise music!

Vibes confirmed.

There's another guy in the leadership, I don't know if he's an alcolyte or assistant priest or what, but a year ago (had to have been a year because we were on lockdown before that) I saw him in the procession up to the altar, and he was touching a young altar boy in front of him, I don't know why.

I don't think the bishop is one of them, but if he is not, I wonder if he knows about all this (how could he not) and if he is wondering what to do about it, or what.

“There’s no way any Catholic can justify the breaking of the second commandment by Catholics when they pray to statues and light candles to them, and bow down to them, no matter what hyperbole they engage in.”

* * * * * *

The Roman Catholic Church removed the second commandment, and then split the tenth commandment in two. That religious system has no commandment against worshipping images.

I remember learning the Catholic Ten Commandments as a kid being raised Catholic.

I was surprised when I found out the Scriptural version.

Not to mention that there comes a point where silence is complicity.

It’s generally the case when we criticize others for their silence when one of their group perpetrates some atrocity. Think of 9/11 and the deafening silence of many about that attack.

Let’s set aside for a moment fact that when I ask metmom to pray for me, that I don’t light candles around a picture of her.

You are correct sir. Your other post was also correct. ONLY ask someone to pray for you, while they are still alive on the earth. Once they die, don’t ask them to pray for you anymore. That’s necromancy, and it’s evil. Dead people can’t hear anyone. Also, don’t ask any “saints,” to pray for the same reason. It’s evil necromancy and they may be in Hell, and they are up to their necks with SERIOUS pain and agony, and they couldn’t care less what people on earth are doing. If “anyone” answers them, from beyond the grave, it’s a fallen angel, who is speaking, not some dead saint.
I don’t know if all Catholics worship Mary. I know, according to the dictionary definition of worship, I surely worshipped her, when I was a Catholic. 😀😃😊

My dad was in the Knights of Columbus, but he never, ever talked about it, or anything they ever did, or believed in. Maybe there was a reason for that. 😀😊 I don’t know if they are Jesuits.

Most appear to be unaware of this change, as they do not read
Bible.

Found that it was in the Lutheran Church Catechism too, at least the one my father had.

Shaking head. Hosea 4:6

Your post is spot on, Mark.

The dead are ... dead. If they couldn’t answer any prayer whilst alive, they sure can’t do it dead.

The Commandments are divided that way in the Lutheran catechism, yes.

So?

I mean, we still teach against bowing down to graven images and there’s no numbering system for which is what in Scripture.

Reading whole Bible?

The Ten Commandments in the Holy Bible, Exodus 20:

Exodus
Chapter 20

1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 (First Commandment)

1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 (Second Commandment)

2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

There is a significant amount that God is saying here:

A) “Don’t make any images”
B)”Don’t bow down to them or serve them”
C) “Because I am a jealous God”
D)” If you do this, the repercussions will be on you down to your grandchildren and great-grandchildren”
(later in Exodus and Leviticus, God explains the curses which will apply, in significant detail)
E)” I will show mercy to you if you keep and love my commandments”

Quite a bit there.

7 (Third Commandment)
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 (Fourth Commandment) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

There’s a lot here, too. . .

12 ¶(Fifth Commandment)
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

13 (sixth Commandment) Thou shalt not kill.

14 (Seventh Commandment) Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 (Eighth Commandment) Thou shalt not steal.

16 (Ninth Commandment) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 (Tenth Commandment) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

- - - - - - -

God did not remove the second commandment and then split the tenth to keep them ten total, as the RC church did. Sigh.

Second time, Deuteronomy 5: 6-21

“6 ¶ I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me. 8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: 9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, 10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. 11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. 13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: 14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. 15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
16 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 17 Thou shalt not kill. 18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery. 19 Neither shalt thou steal. 20 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour. 21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

22 ¶ These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more.”

The Holy Bible is God’s written word to man.

I was raised in a denomination of the Lutheran Church.
But I did not receive the way of salvation there.
Baptism and Confirmation do not save one.
That took the message of salvation from the Bible.
Classic Roman road and John.
Asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive me of sins, repented (agreed that they were evil) and save me, believing that He is the Son of God, and God come in the flesh, living a perfect life to become a perfect sacrifice in death, paying for my sins, that I may escape the second death and go to Heaven when I die, rather than Hell, (Lake of Fire) which we all, as sinners, deserve.

It grieved me to leave the Lutheran church.

In the time since then, have attended a couple of Lutheran services elsewhere, and in two (one Mis and one Wis) have received biblical salvation messages, which were encouraging.

This post was much longer than was originally intended. Note: did not become aware of your statement of being a pastor until almost finished with post. Please consider this when reading, and am out of words at this time.
