Dr. Gary Habermas has developed an argument for the historicity of the resurrection ("The Resurrection Argument That Changed a Generation of Scholars") which has convinced even hardened atheistic Bible scholars that, at a minimum, we can trace solid belief in Jesus' resurrection to within six months of the event. He has presented it in several venues--my favorite is this one at UCSB.
