How ridiculous. Murder is murder, thoughts are thoughts. We pretty much cannot control what thoughts pop into our minds, but we CAN control whether or not we act on the more extreme of those thoughts...like wanting to murder someone who ticks you off enough. Most of us succeed, some do not - and they are the ones who belong in front of a court of law to answer for their ACTUAL crime(s).

Ideally, of course, we wouldn’t have bad thoughts...but that world only exists when we are in Stage 4 REM sleep. Again, we cannot control our thoughts, but we CAN control our actions. If people would work on the latter, rather than the hopeless task of the former, the world would be a far better place.

the rubbish of the rabbinic, traditional view of murder,

So, you are approving that this John McArthur has compared Jewish law to rubbish? He can take his blasphemy and apply it to his nethermost region and then upward.

I tend to trust what Jesus said in the scriptures. Sometimes I may not understand it, though.

Does anyone know what MacArthur has said about Matthew 5:17,18?

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”
