Day 426: Choosing the Fountain of Life - Devotional
The Return ^ | March 20, 2022

Jeremiah was young, only about 20 years old, when God gave him a prophetic calling. He entered into that calling like many of us do in our youth, not really knowing what the years ahead would hold. All he knew is that he had a relationship with God. He had surrendered his life to the Lord. He was saying, “Not my will, but your will be done.” He was going to serve in the role of a prophet.

Today is very different, at least from what I can tell. I know there are true prophets still, but a lot of the prophets I see today are all about “Lights, camera, action!” They have jokes; they can prophecy, and things don't come to pass. Not even a notable percentage of their prophecies come to pass, and they just make light of it and move on.

By contrast, Jeremiah had a soberness in his message. He had a reality to him because God's truth weighed so heavily upon him. Jeremiah had to bear under the knowledge that God was setting the nation on a course of either choosing God or rejecting God.

The Lord tells Jeremiah, “For my people have committed two evils: They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water” (Jeremiah 2:13, NKJV). God looked at the whole of society, and he boiled down all of society’s issues to two evils. First, they had forsaken God, the fountain of living waters; and second, they had made broken cisterns that could hold no water, basically trying to replace God’s presence with their own resources.

How much we need to hear this today. There are so many voices with social media and the internet. We've got global news 24/7. It's always at our fingertips. You can be overwhelmed by looking at all the facts and all the features of our society and trying to figure out what’s going wrong. God narrows it down for Jeremiah, and he is narrowing it down for us today.

God is saying to us today that there are two evils in this world: We have forsaken God, and we have put ourselves in place of God, trying to sustain ourselves. We must reject these two lies if we want to set our nation on a course of choosing God.

This reminds me of what a family member has been going through recently. She believes in the Word of our Lord, yet she sought out more, and got caught up in this “new age” spirituality philosophy garbage that is out there.

At first I thought, wow, she is on the right track now professing Christ Jesus, and how He is the way, the truth and the life. But then I started listening more to what she was saying, and posting on face book and then I was, oh no, wait, hold up there now grasshopper.

She was mentioning elements, energies, frequencies, mother earth and gaia. There were angel cards and quotes from some mystics, and a picture of buddha. Then crap about the ego, using your powers to create your destiny and find nirvana.

I was in shock at that point. Immediately getting on the phone and telling her to toss all that garbage. Explaining to her that she is worshipping and putting faith into the creation instead of the Creator, and you can’t have it both ways because there is only one way and that is through Christ Jesus. There are no other outside forces needed because we received His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truths.

Now she sees, and gets it, but she thought it was all ok because they talk about Christ Jesus too. I explained to her how satan operates and how he is a counterfeit, imitator, imposter, and can even disguise himself as an angel of light, and to not fall into this trickery.

These followers of this new age crap even refer to themselves as the “I AM”. They call on guardian angels, and spirit guides. They think they are ushering in the new earth and the old earth will fade. It’s not good, and so many have been deceived into thinking that they are following our Lord, but they have been so led astray.

I’m sorry for the length of this post. I just needed to talk to someone about it and maybe someone else needs to see it too ... smiles

It all sounds like the word of faith/New Apostolic Reformation nonsense.

It’s eastern mysticism dressed up in Christian lingo with Jesus as the window dressing.

I’m so glad your relative was open and receptive to the truth. I’ve dealt with these types before and usually, you can’t tell them anything.

They know what they have experienced, as if that has the same authority as Scripture, and their minds are made up that it’s from God.

I like how you put that. ***”It’s eastern mysticism dressed up in Christian lingo with Jesus as the window dressing.”***
That is exactly right. I’m going to borrow that saying now.

I think my niece was receptive because she came to me for advice to see if she was on the right track or not. Her mother told her to ask me since I’m always reminding everyone in the family about what is written in scriptures.

Though I do have a older brother in the family that tends to run from me as soon as I remind him of what God said, and he’s a Christian too. I guess that Light of Truth I keep pointing out to him is just too much to bear. Strange though that when I was just a teenager long, long ago, he use to back me up in a corner and poke me in the chest and said I was going to burn in hell if I didn’t straighten up.

Such is life I reckon. Thanks though Metmom for your postings. I usually lurk in the shadows, but this one struck a chord.
