Russian Catholics cautious about opinions but welcome consecration to Mary

To comply with Russian laws, peace appeals by Pope Francis, including his Angelus messages of March 6 and 13, have not been published on the church’s main news website, Cathmos.Ru, which reissued a Russian Orthodox statement, rather than a Vatican communique, about the pope’s March 16 video conversation with Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill of Moscow.

Sort of shocked that Pope Francis is doing this, but good for him

“Sort of shocked that Pope Francis is doing this, but good for him”

I have to agree. Few Catholics have been as down on Bergoglio as I have. And I continue to believe that he’s been a horrendously bad pope, far and away the worst in my lifetime, BUT... what if God has allowed this tremendously unworthy man to be pope for the sole purpose of accomplishing this consecration? I’m reminded of Tolkien’s line: “My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play in it, for good or evil, before this is over.” And Gollum did play his part ... also on March 25.

If what is said is true, that John Paul shied away from specifically consecrating “Russia”, only consecrating the “world”, but that Francis is specifically going to consecrate “Russia” and the “Ukraine” … I have to admit I’m very surprised.

I lean more towards the Sr. Lucia view than the Fr. Gruner view on this question. That John Paul’s consecration was accepted by Heaven but that the fullness of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart was curtailed/mitigated by only a consecration of the “world” and not specifically “Russia”. Isn’t this what Russia is now? A man, Putin, who openly says gay marriage and gender theory are nonsense and who encourages more births, fewer abortions and a more robust Christianity, but who still rules with an iron fist, subjugating his and other peoples.
