“Program-200” for the construction of new Orthodox churches in Moscow is going to carry on, but will find ways to cut costs, said its curator, State Duma Deputy Vladimir Resin, in an interview with reporters.
"We will learn how to build without money and rely only on Russian-made products. Moreover, in our program there are quite a lot of philanthropists, who donate not money as such, but construction materials and physical work. We are under sanctions, so we simply need to work under new conditions, mobilizing all available resources — both material and creative,” Resin said.
To illustrate what he meant, Mr. Resin recalled the story of the Church dedicated to the Beheading of John the Baptist, under construction in the north of Moscow. They have already started cutting costs. For instance, they are considering replacing the zero cycle with a technical -1 story, with a regular zero cycle, which will reduce the construction cost at this stage by almost 20 million rubles.
