That does not support the spiritual hospital paradigm of the church.

It’s not to nurse people along to spiritual health.

It’s to equip believers for the work of the ministry, which ALL believers are called to do, not just a special clerical caste tasked with the job.

A timely reminder from today's Mass Gospel about the healing desires for those being sent out in their Ministry. (You are correct though, it would take the Catholic Church 200-300 years to formalize the first "hospitals" to care for the sick after the Resurrection.) :

Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them:
“Go into the whole world
and proclaim the Gospel to every
creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;...
These signs will accompany those who believe:
in my name they will drive out demons,...
They will lay hands on the sick,
and they will recover.”
