I was raised Catholic in the era of post-war Catholic triumphalism which ended in the wake of Vatican II. In about 10 years or less, we went from Bishop Sheen to the Berrigans. A malaise, a lack of conviction, set in which continues to this day. Protestant evangelicalism still has zeal for the faith, whereas mainstream (Biden/Pelosi) Catholicism and liberal Protestantism are characterized by capitulation to secular mores.

If the Church hierarchy in the US thought open borders would keep their parishes open/solvent, they will be sorely disappointed; they’ve sent scads of them up here to NJ and the Church is still imploding. They’ll blame COVID rather than themselves, but long before the CoupFlu they were seeing declining numbers in everything (except maybe burials).
Who could blame them when a Catholic pastor in Hoboken NJ writes a column (yesterday) on nj.com (Faith Matters) praising a nearby Lutheran church: “(Danielle) McCleary also appreciated the synod’s emphasis on diversity to combat racism and the different programs to welcome LGBTQIA-plus parishioners. McCleary married her wife, Kimberly, in 2020 and hopes to prepare the Secaucus church to be certified by the Extraordinary Lutheran Ministry by becoming more sensitive to gay members and inspire parishioners to get involved in gay advocacy.”
This is far beyond a malaise or lack of conviction; these are shepherds mocking God while leading flocks astray.
