I dunno. Matthew 7:6 comes to mind.

I realize this is crass, but maybe your priests/pastors aren’t “pleasing” your bishop as well as Pfleger pleases his. Or obeys or whatever it is that they do.

My apologies for the insinuation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is an element of truth to my wondering.

The Tridentine Mass comes to mind rather than some schimatic mass.

I was an altar boy for several years in my youth. All of the parishes I served at had pipe organs. After Vatican 2 it all changed and Mass became more like a hootenanny. That’s when I stopped going. I would return for a Latin Mass with a pipe organ anytime.

Our parish was doing that back in the ‘70s.
One priest even served Communion wine out of a Coke bottle. He wasn’t there much longer after that.
Our parish was a more conservative one, run by the Franciscan Order.
I haven’t been there in a long time, I shudder to think about what’s going on there now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a golden calf on the altar next Christmas.
Maybe even before then.

At one point I said I would try again. I introduced myself to the new priest...who offered his hand which I did shake and with the other hand, handed me a box of contribution envelopes. Never went back...

But my heart still belongs to God.

The policy of relocating priests every so often has been in place for years through numerous bishops. I believe most dioceses in this country do the same thing.

Pfleger’s parish would riot if they tried to replace him. They tried once before and failed miserably. They would fail again.

No, you don’t get leeway with Mass in the way you are talking about.

Pick up a Roman Missale and show me there where you are supposed to fit a pageant.

This is the problem that many Catholics have a hard time facing—we have been living in a liturgically abusive environment for so many decades that people think liturgical abuse is perfectly normal.

Have the pageant in the Church basement before or after Mass. It ain’t part of the rite of Mass, never was.

How dare they remove the sticks from their asses and actually celebrate God...reminds me of the jealous woman who condemned King David who was “dancing for all he was worth”...

The church has celebrations all the time that are drawl and uninspiring. They have feast days where nothing is eaten. The words of the church refer to communal events that are celebratory. And yet, we do the same thing every week. No feast, no celebration. The weekly mass is not the entirety of church or Catholism. While a meaningful weekly serious communal prayer is very important. Somebody has to excite participation and celebration, not just in words, but in events that excite people as well.

Yes. They're called Novus Ordo masses (Bugnini's Messes).

I haven’t totally given up on the Church, but like any institution, it is only as good as the people in charge.

Don't know if the TLM is available in your neck of the woods but pretty sure Fr. Flores at JPII celebrates a very reverent liturgy.
