“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:28-31).
In verse 10, we saw her principles. In verse 11, her prudence. In verse 12, her persistence In verse 13, her positive attitude. In verse 14, her provision. In verse 15, her preparation. In verse 16, her purchasing. In verse 17, her physical fitness. In verse 18, her perception. In verse 19, her practical side. In verse 20, her philanthropy. In verse 21-22, her precaution. In verse 23, her partnership. In verse 24, her profit. In verse 25, her poise. In verse 26, her pleasantness
Now we see her praise in verse 28, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” That's great, that's great. Ladies, you know your husband may talk nice about you, I wouldn't doubt it that there's probably some husbands that won't even talk nice about the wife, even when she's around, but most husbands will talk nice about the wife when they are around. But I wonder what your husband says about you when he’s around the others guys. If you are a virtuous woman, your husband will praise you.
I wonder what your kids say to the other kids about you. I tell you what, if you take them to church, and you pray with them, and you read them that Bible, and taught them the scriptures and got them saved, and taught them how to get right with God, and got peace down in their little hearts, I guarantee you; they will praise you. They will appreciate you.
There isn't any man that ever cursed a mother that prayed for him. You may not have like her praying for you, but if anybody else said anything about your mother, you’d be ready to fight.
In verse 29, her piety. “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.” This is a great woman.
In verse 30, “Favour is deceitful,” in other words, people can do you favors, but it isn’t always for the right cause. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.”
The good woman is described in First Peter chapter 3. It's not her beauty, it's not her a good works, that make her good; it’s the new man inside. In first Peter 3:2-4, it says, “While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Who's adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting of the hair, and of the wearing of gold, or putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
This woman's piety, her spiritual life, her devotional life, she's concerned about the inner man, not so much the outer man.
Then, last of all, verse 31 we see her pay off. “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own work praise her in the gates.”
They will.
