Joseph wanted to raise the Egyptians to a higher spiritual and moral plane. So he arranged that they be circumcised.

I don't recall that from Genesis. Is that from some other source?

If this was done, it was a true overreach on the part of Joseph.

The Egyptians were not in any sense “bought by money” by Joseph or his household.

here is something interesting.. I am reading Herodotus (~450 BC) and he states that the Egyptians were practicing circumcision then..
