I never want my faith to become dependent on physical evidence, but if God is behind all this (also see the following post: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/4018480/posts ), then I welcome His presence wherever it may be found.

So Jesus performing miracles was for the masses was useless?

Or is this just a backhanded swipe at the Catholic Church?

Everyone should read Everyday Saints.

These are real stories of God’s miracles in soviet Russia, written by an Orthodox Christian.

That’s a wonderful point, and I didn’t think of it that way. You probably know more about the scriptures than I do, but I thought there was a passage somewhere that warned against basing our faith on physical, non-scriptural proof. His miracles certainly weren’t useless—they were among the most necessary and important events in the world’s history—and I apologize if what I wrote sounded in any way like a swipe against the Catholic Church. If what I said was wrong, then I apologize to you as a believer; but moreso to God.

P.S. I don’t know whether this matters; but for the record, I believe all or most of these miracles were real and were divine—although I don’t believe it as strongly as I believe that Jesus turned water into wine.
