“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee" (Proverbs 2:1).
You either have the word of God or you do not. Do you have them? Someone says, “NO!” Well, why not? He promised He would give them to you. It looks like you better go find them. “Well, I just don't think they’re in the King James Bible.” Where is it then? “It’s in the original Greek.” We don't have the original Greek. So, where is it? Ask questions that a kid would ask. Well, where is it?
If a man questions whether it is the words, this verse should settle the issue for all time. In answer to the earlier question, “Where is the word of God?” The answer is, “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). The word of God, the perfect word of God is in heaven. There was one time when it was here in the original manuscripts, but we don't have those anymore. How do we receive the word of God if we don’t have it anymore?
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes" (Proverbs 4:20-21).
So, how do you obey Proverbs 4:20-21, if we don’t have the word of God anymore?
If you come at it from the world’s philosophy, you don't. Is it really that hard to realize that you can't treat the Bible like any other kind of literature?
If we were trying to get back to Aristotle's original writings, and I don't know if any of those are around anymore, but you have issues about copies being made from copies and eventually maybe it doesn't even resemble the original, but that's Aristotle. That is a human book written by a mere human author. With the Bible, we're talking here about the Lord's words. If the Lord is powerful enough to inspire His word, do you think that the preservation process is any less providential? Proverbs 4:21-22 tells us, “Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
You've got the words!
