“A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly” (Proverbs 21:28).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly” (Proverbs 21:28).

Do those clauses seem to not go together somehow? What's that thing saying? It's saying that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Only somebody that hears the word of God has anything worth saying and somebody that hears that ought to use their mouths all the time.

I’m sure you’ve seen some churches with their signs over there doorway, “Preach the gospel to the world—use words if necessary.”

Folks, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, the only people in this world that have anything worth saying are Bible believers. It's true. You, and people like you. Chuck Todd talks for a living. Tom Brokaw ran his mouth for a generation. Apparently, our president runs his mouth and goes on vacation for a living (while Americans are being held hostages in Afghanistan). None of these guys have anything worth saying. They are false witnesses. Anybody that stands up and talks about evolution, or how great man is, or how great are man's accomplishments, etc.—that's all nonsense. That’s a false witness. That's somebody that has a false spirit.

The only folks in the world that have anything worth saying worth or worth hearing is somebody who's been in the Bible and knows that what he's heard comes from God, and is right, and can help.

It says there that “a false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.” See, a false witness does not hear. The false witness hears the news. A false witness hears his fake minister or priest or whatever he is; but a false witness does not hear anything from God. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God,” right? with that in mind it says goes on to say that “the man that hears speaketh constantly.” He speaks for truth. He speaks for righteousness. He speaks for patriotic values. He speaks in order to edify others. There’s a huge difference between the two, folks.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
