“For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death” (Proverbs 8:35-36).
The Bible says that “the king’s favour is as dew upon the grass.”
There are some things about dew, and dew is a very subtle thing in the end. It does not come with lightning, and it does not come with thunder. It simply distills and condenses upon the grass. In fact, it has to be quiet and still for it to condense upon the grass, doesn't it? Okay, so the king’s favor does not come upon you like thunder and lightning, it comes subtly. It’s not like you go out and gather up a 5-gallon bucket of dew unless you really want to work at it.
The Lord’s favor is pretty subtle, in fact, it's subtle enough that if you're not careful you kind of overlook it and disregard it. What does the Bible say about grass? Well, Isaiah says that “All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field” (Isaiah 40:6). Also, Peter says, “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away” (1 Peter 1:24).
The Bible says that grass is you and me, and we all need the water of life. Well, the Bible says that “the king’s favour is as dew upon the grass.” It’s not like as a thunderstorm. It’s a subtle thing.
Verses 35, “For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.”
There’s nothing that's truer than that you obtain the favor of the Lord in the Lord Jesus Christ, right?
Verse 36, “. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.” You are not going to have anybody admit to loving death usually, but if somebody hates godly wisdom and if they hate Christ, they do love death, because that is all that lies before them.
