FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern Health issued a warning letter to a Fort St. John church on Monday for not following provincial health orders.
According to the health authority’s website, the letter was due to the Catholic Church of the Resurrection not following a regional order on worship services.
The status of this particular case is listed as “pending compliance” as the health authority awaits a response on whether the church will comply with the order or not.
New circuit breaker measures were implemented on October 15th included a ban on in-person worship services.
A post was published to the Church’s Facebook page on the same day announcing that live attendance services cannot take place. Live virtual services have taken place on the church’s Facebook page every Sunday since the announcement.
As per Northern Health’s order, updated on October 21st, “a person must not permit a place of worship to be used for, to organize, lead, or participate in, a worship service inside or outside.”
