“Last Rites” does nothing for the sick and dying person.
Sorry.
Even if you reject the concept of sacramental grace, you should, if you have any humanity, recognize that it will provide comfort for the ailing person and his/her family.
Mr Regis. I wonder why you say you’re sorry. Care to explain?
There was a year after look-back of 9/11 that Raymond Arroyo did for EWTN where a few Catholic New Yorkers, some well-known, had interesting reflections.
One firefighter said he was amazed at the fear he perceived from people running away from the buildings. He said, “they were really scared. I thought. I wanted to ask them, is your conscience bothering you?”
A WSJ writer I know said, “Father George Rutler, when he heard, he ran from his parish up on Fourth Avenue near Grand Central Station all the way downtown to help. To administer last rites, confessions. He knew the firefighters would be going into the buildings.”
He was able to administer the sacraments to the men going in to help people in their last minutes to be able to get to Jesus with their souls cleansed and prepared. We have 100 years here. The rest is forever. People like the very well educated, informed, in shape and holy Fr Rutler know the value of last rites for a dying person.
Look him up. He has many publications, broadcasts and associations. Or speak with any intelligent priest. Get informed. Then form an opinion. After being informed
How do you know that?
