A federal judge has granted the request of Christian colleges who want to intervene in a lawsuit that seeks to force the U.S. Department of Education to strip federal funding from Christian colleges that abide by traditional beliefs on gender and sexuality.
In an opinion released last Friday, Judge Ann Aiken of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon granted the motions to intervene in a case brought forward by dozens of current and former students at 25 Christian colleges who argue that religious exemptions to Title IX discrimination law are unconstitutional.
Although the lawsuit was filed against the Department of Education earlier this year, three Christian colleges and the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities filed motions to intervene.
The Clinton appointee ruled that the Federal Rules for Civil Procedure allow nonparties to intervene in cases where they believe the issue at hand may affect them.
The lawsuit was filed in March on behalf of Elizabeth Hunter, an LGBT graduate of Bob Jones University, and several other LGBT plaintiffs currently or formerly enrolled in Christian colleges. The plaintiffs are represented by the Religious Exemption Accountability Project.
The lawsuit alleges that religious colleges and universities' exemptions from Title IX nondiscrimination laws are unconstitutional because they allow such schools to discriminate against LGBT students.
Examples of discrimination against LGBT students cited in the lawsuit include "conversion therapy, expulsion, denial of housing and healthcare, sexual and physical abuse and harassment, as well as the less visible, but no less damaging, consequences of institutionalized shame, fear, anxiety and loneliness."
The U.S. Department of Education's website explains that "Title IX generally prohibits a recipient institution from excluding, separating, denying benefits to, or otherwise treating students differently on the basis of sex in its educational programs or activities."
Title IX includes an exemption for "an educational institution that is controlled by a religious organization to the extent that application of Title IX would be inconsistent with the religious tenets of the organization."
While Title IX was one of several initiatives passed nearly half a century ago to provide equal opportunities to women in education, the LGBT students' lawsuit alleges that the prohibitions of discrimination based on sex in Title IX also apply to sexual orientation and gender identity. The Obama administration shared that interpretation of Title IX while the Trump administration rescinded an order telling educational institutions to treat sexual orientation and gender identity as equivalent to sex upon taking office in 2017.
On April 9, nearly two weeks after the lawsuit was filed, Alliance Defending Freedom filed a motion to intervene on behalf of three Christian schools: Corban University in Oregon, William Jessup University in California and Phoenix Seminary in Arizona.
The religious liberty law firm maintained that although they were not parties in the case, the schools would face a negative impact from any decision gutting Title IX religious exemptions for faith-based colleges and universities.
ADF Senior Counsel and Vice President of U.S. Litigation David Cortman praised Aiken's decision.
"This lawsuit wants the federal government to tell Christian schools, 'To continue accepting low- to middle-income students who require financial aid, you have to violate your core beliefs,'" Cortman said in a statement. "Because that's neither reasonable nor constitutional, we are pleased that these schools will have the opportunity to defend their freedoms in this case."
Cortman contends that no court "should grant a radical request to rewrite federal law and strong-arm religious colleges by stripping their students of much-needed financial aid."
About a month after ADF filed the motion to intervene on behalf of the three Christian colleges, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, a network of over 140 Christian higher education institutions across the U.S., filed a separate motion to intervene.
In June, the Biden administration indicated that it intended to defend the faith-based exemptions to Title IX while opposing the efforts of the nonparty colleges to intervene in the case. This announcement received pushback from REAP.
REAP, which "empowers queer, trans and nonbinary students at more than 200 taxpayer-funded religious colleges and universities that actively discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression," slammed the Biden administration's "out-of-touch position."
The nonprofit organization warned that the move "will only serve to harm more LGBTQ students at religious colleges — & permit continued taxpayer-funded discrimination at these institutions."
The legal efforts to challenge the religious exemptions to Title IX come as the Equality Act, which would codify nondiscrimination protections for the LGBT community into federal law, has failed to gain traction in the U.S. Congress. While the measure passed the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives on a largely party-line vote in February, it's been unable to pass the evenly split Senate due to opposition from Democrats and Republicans.
Grove City College and Hillsdale College both did away with having anything to do with receiving money from the federal government long ago. These colleges are THRIVING.
All these Christian Colleges should follow suit.
Elimination of the Bible and Christianity is the end game of the LGBTUVWXYZ thing.
Title IX is unconstitutional by virtue of it being in conflict with the First amendment.
If this lawsuit were to succeed then all federal funding for colleges should be cancelled. (Which would probably be good thing in any case.) Christians are not second-class citizens, nor federal funding the preserve of secularists. If all cannot not participate on an equal basis, then none should. Why should Christians and conservatives agree to any funding that will only go to undermine what they believe?
Most federal law is unconstitutional. Does anyone care?
All STATES should also follow suit.

It’s time to flush the toilet . . . the damage has been done. (Unless of course, God intervenes with a miracle in this country.)
True, but ultimately Elimination of the Bible and Christianity is the end game of Satan. Lgbtq just follow his agenda, and even if they don’t realize it, they are his slaves (5hat it not to say that there can’t be some seriously misguided Christians who fall prey to the sins of homosexuality, there likely are some in the vile group of evildoers, but most lgbtq are lost and do,the bidding of the evil one even if they don’t realize it.)
That is correct. The Left is basically run by the spirit of antichrist and what we’re seeing is a preview of coming attractions, but it is not Satan’s time yet.
Knowing these things helps us to
1) understand what is really going on so we’re not so surprised what the Left does and we can effectively counter their attacks, and
2) locate where we are - the last days just before Jesus’ return - so we can prepare and be ready for Luke 14:23, the merciful, end-time incoming of souls for the Lord’s supper (the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (so we know Luke 14:23 is BEFORE the the first part of Jesus’ return, the “rapture”)). May we be ready to let our light shine brightly so as many as possible including the LGBQTUVWXYZ are saved and escape the incredibly horrific Day of the Lord soon to come.
Identifying the political/social/spiritual problem helps us in our good fight of faith. Locating where we are on God’s timetable helps us to have compassion on the lost who are being used of Satan and letting Jesus save as many as possible before it’s too late for them. We must enter into Jesus’ compassion because of ourselves, we don’t have much compassion.
Well put-
One question- You said “the merciful, end-time incoming of souls for the Lord’s supper (the Marriage Supper of the Lamb”
Does this speak about people becoming saved en mass before the rapture? if so i hadn’t heard of this before- if so ill have to study it-
Finally getting back to you.
Thought I’d share what I wrote earlier about Luke 14 further below. It’s important to understand that we are in the times of the Gentiles in which scripture doesn’t reveal any known timetable. I’m sure there is one, but it is in the Father’s domain and we don’t know the day or the hour of His return for his saints (Matt. 24:36) (the great “catching up” AKA the “rapture” (1 Thess 4:17)).
However, we do know the times and the seasons and there is much evidence that we are very close to the end of the age, including the century we’re in. We know that we have just entered the seventh millennium since Adam and although not an exact timetable the seventh millennium speaks of God’s rest (He rested on the seventh day and a day in the Lord is as 1000 years) - so his reign on earth is reasonably imminent. That also explains why in the first century, the 21st Century, of this 7th Millennium, on the VERY FIRST YEAR - 2001 - Islamic Jihad killed thousands in NYC (9-11) as they will the whole world during the horrific soon-coming tribulation. It is an alert that the end of the age is very soon.
I will continue to look for other indications of this worldwide ingathering of souls before the rapture and the launch of the Day of the Lord’s Wrath, but again, most of the Bible is written to and for the Jews, so this 2000-year period since Jesus’ death, wherein God has turned from the Jews to the Gentiles including this final end-time ingathering of souls, is not spoken of a whole lot.
Nevertheless, we have this:
- Luke 14:16-24, a prophetic parable explained below that points directly to this final end-time ingathering for the Lord’s Marriage Supper.
- Matt. 24:38 indicates that the Lord will come for his saints during a prosperous and fairly “normal” time which is a reasonable expectation after a worldwide revival.
- the great love and mercy of God who wants to save anyone he can for the soon-coming horror, so this final end-time revival is consistent with exactly what you would expect from our loving Savior towards the lost.
The rest below is from a previous post.

Yes, there will be a Great Awakening among Jews during the first half of Daniel’s 70th Week (the seven-year tribulation) fulfilling the prophetic “all of Israel will be saved” (Romans 11:26 (also Isaiah 27:9, 59:20-21)). PTL!
However, a careful reading of Luke 14:16-24 shows this is the Lord’s preparation for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb - BEFORE the tribulation - in three parts.
- The first part (vs. 16-20) is the Jews’ rejection of the invitation from God in Christ.
- The second part (vs. 21) is God’s turning away from the Jews to the Gentiles and the Gentile church for the last 2000 years.
- The third part (vs. 22-23) is now (”and yet there is room” [at the Marriage table for more souls]) - a final sweep of the earth of souls in the “highways” (the many modern-day corridors of travel and communication around the world) and “hedges” (within the borders of the nations of the world). The unnamed servant in scripture is always the Holy Spirit who never puts attention on himself but on Jesus (the “man”, “master” and “Lord” in the prophetic parable).
So this is an awakening and salvation that takes place around the world BEFORE the tribulation and the “great catching up” (the “rapture”). Its facilitation has already begun in the church with the great worldwide revolution and restoration of the true Gospel of the Grace of Christ fulfilling Jude 3 (”earnestly contending for the faith which was once delivered to the saints” [eternal life by grace without works]).
The Lord in his great mercy and love wants to take as many as possible out of this world and into Heaven with Jesus before the horrific day of his wrath on the earth. So what is our role? Looking to Jesus and letting our light shine brightly letting the Holy Spirit draw as many as possible to the Lord during this short time remaining. That is why he says, “Occupy until I come” (Luke 19:13).
This is also why the battle for America rages, because I believe America has a key role in this final end-time gathering of souls - a light to the world. That is one reason I believe Satan and the Left will lose this time around. (They’ll have their day, but that will be after we and the Holy Spirit are taken outta here. Leftists will be utterly astonished when their heads start rolling like pumpkins at the hands of the worldwide Jihad implementing the Worldwide Islamic Supremacy that NOTHING will stop (the “beast” is their long-awaited “12th Imam” I believe).
God bless.
Thanks for replying- I think what you re saying is mid trib? I believe pre trib is when we will be taken, but i don’t hold fast to it- i just think there is good evidence for pretrib rapture-
I’m not sure, but doesn’t the in-gathering of souls happen when the two witnesses are present? That happens during the trib-
i think you may be right about the imam being the beast- sure looks like it is shaping up to be him
interesting point about the 7’th millenium, and God resting- hadn’t thought of that scenario before-
I don’t think we are quite in the wind down to the end times yet, but it’s certainly close i think- and them ore that we are learning about how America- the once greatest nation on earth, is turning on it’s own citizens at the hands of the liberals- the closer i think we are getting to it- not that the USA is the end all be all of end times prophecy, but like you mentioned, We ARE the light, the restrainer of evil- and it seems our influence over opposing and reigning in evil is waning at a dramatically fast and accelerating rate
Whenever the rapture happens- will be fine- We can take comfort in knowing that evil can destroy the body, but never the soul- for that is secure with God- to those who accept Christ as Savior
No, what did I say that makes you think “mid-trib”?
No, the 70th week of Daniel begins upon the rapture of the church (Jesus coming FOR his saints) and ends upon Jesus return WITH his saints at Armageddon and the beginning of his 1000 year reign.
sorry guess i read it wrong- i took what you said about the following to mean that we woudl be raptures only after the general ‘peaceful prosperous end times gathering’ took place- which would mean somewhere during the tribulation when things begin to go south for mankind-
- Matt. 24:38 indicates that the Lord will come for his saints during a prosperous and fairly “normal” time which is a reasonable expectation after a worldwide revival.
I see that i was mistaken now- thanks for pointing it out
You got it.
Actually, immediately after we are raptured, all hell breaks loose on earth. No peace at all. Jesus said, “In an hour when you don’t expect, I will come”, and I think what he’s referring to is everything seems to be going along just fine and BOOM, he comes for us and darkness plunges on earth.
That’s what I always thought, that everything g is going swimmingly, noone concerned about end times cuz their minds are on the good times, and wham, rapture and all hell breaks loose.
John hagee, which I do not agree with on many things, has studied the end times pretty extensively, (though I think he is off on some issues ) and was involved in a movie mini series, where it depicted the end times rapture, and it was really sobering to see it played out,and how those left behind will immediately go into A propaganda campaign to explain it away, and how the media will deceive the people, while the rwo witnesses are here on earth. They did a pretty good job depicting the bowl judgements and trumpet judgements too.
The sound of the trumpets was very eerie sounding, and the who.e world woild hear it, then disasters woild strike, and still the media woild try to cover it up and keep, people in the dark about what is going on.
He was featured in the movie discussing the end times right before the end times started, but I can’t seem to find the movie now. I know he’s off on a number of biblical, issues, but I thought the movie did a pretty good job depicting how the end times might play out, except they did have a few errors in it, like children getting rapture first, then parents later. And the news trying to deceive people into believing their kids had run away and joined a movement. The ,id’s being rapture first was unb, iblical, but the media in the movie lying after the kids went missing depicted pretty well how deceitful the media are today and will be in the end times.
Anyways, yeah, I was always taught people will be going along not expecting his return then wham, he returns for his people in raputre
If you take the king’s shilling, you do the king’s bidding...
Yeah, Bob, that’s kind of how I see it also.
If you’re interested, here is the sequence of events as I see them in scripture. It’s almost like an outline of a book I plan to publish hopefully soon. I think the title will be “THE END TIMES”. I think people want to know where we are and what’s going to happen and I think the Lord has given me understanding to help them.
Each sequential item is a cause for the next. The scripture references are just a sampling. There are others as well.
• Now - The Holy Spirit renewing the unmixed Gospel of the Grace of Christ among believers around the world. Joseph Prince, New Creation Church in Singapore, and Grace Revolution Church is Dallas are major players.
o Fulfils Jude 3
• Very soon – A worldwide incoming of souls to Jesus. People are tired of the judgment and condemnation of the law which is not part of the New Covenant of grace (Romans 6:14) and will embrace the compassionate free gift of salvation Jesus offers.
o Fulfils Luke 14:22-23
• Next - The world’s ship of state, so to speak, will have been righted by the wholesale return to the Lord our God. Peace and prosperity will abound. A blessing for the saved, but a trap for those who have refused Jesus.
o Fulfils Matthew 24:38; 2 Peter 3:3-4
• Next (in a few decades IMO) – the first part of the second coming of Jesus his saints (the great “catching up” AKA the “rapture” for the church). I believe it might be as many as ½ of the world hinted by Matt. 24:40-41. The projected population of the earth in 2070 is around 9 billion. That could mean that around 4.5 billion go to Heaven and about 4.5 billion are left behind. The Holy Spirt also leaves earth.
o Fulfils Matt. 24:40-41; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 2 Thess. 2:7
• Immediately following, basically at the same moment – the start of Daniel’s 70th Week AKA the Seven -Year Tribulation. Then and only then will the “man of perdition” AKA “that Wicked” AKA the “beast” (who I believe is Islam’s “12th Imam” who they are waiting for) will be revealed.
o Fulfils 2 Thess. 2:8; Matt. 24:5; Rev. 6:2
• Almost immediately after – ¼ of the world is killed. Within 3½ years, another 1/3 of the world is killed. So within 3½ years, half of the world is dead. That could be by my calculations around 2.25 billion people dead leaving another 2.25 billion on earth.
o Fulfils Rev. 6:8, 9:18.
• Also within the first 3½ years all Israel will be saved. Projected Jewish population in 2070 is around 18 million. 2/3’s will be killed and 1/3 will be the “remnant” that escapes the Beats and hides in the mountains (Petra I believe).
o Fulfils Romans 11:26; Rev. 12:6, 14; Rev. 14:13-16.
• By the end of the seven years, most of the 2.25 billion on earth will somehow be gathered in the valley of Megiddo to actually do war with God (these people also demon possessed they don’t know hat they’re doing – Satan himself is the one calling the shots on earth). Jesus now come WITH his saints and wipes them all out. Armageddon. The amount of blood is so huge in that valley, it reaches to the horses bridles for 200 miles. Zowie.
o Fulfils Rev. 14:20, 19:21
• Whew. After that, Jesus sets up his 1000 year reign with the saints on earth. Hallelujah!
o Fulfils Rev. 20:4
