“Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known . . . The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame” (Proverbs 14:33, 35).

“Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known . . . The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame” (Proverbs 14:33, 35).

“Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding,” when a man departs from evil, according to Job, that is what understanding is (Job 28:28). He understands the wages of sin and the wages of unrighteousness. That’s wisdom, and that rests in the bosom—in the heart—of him that has understanding.

“. . . but that which is in the midst of fools is made known,” by their fruits ye shall know them. Sooner or later a fool is going to reveal that he has no wisdom, generally as soon as he opens his mouth. It will be made known by the things that he does, and by the things that he says. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

“The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.”

God is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and his favor is toward a wise servant. You serve Him wisely and His favor will be towards you.

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, Abraham found favor with Him when He called him out of Ur of the Chaldees.

No one ought to want to fool with the wrath of God. Its one thing to get under the wrath of the United States government, but don’t fool around with God. Folks can escape the wrath of America, but not the wrath of God.

Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
