[Catholic Caucus] Cordileone Prays for Pelosi

Abortion sowing more division

Our Lord instructed His Apostles to pray and fast when they came upon demons difficult to exorcise. That's exactly what a California bishop is asking the faithful to do for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who represents a district in San Francisco.

Church Militant's Hunter Bradford brings the details you need to know about the "Rose and Rosary for Nancy" campaign.

On Wednesday, San Francisco archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced a plan to storm Heaven with prayers for Pelosi: "I am therefore inviting all Catholics to join in a massive and visible campaign of prayer and fasting for Speaker Pelosi. Commit to praying one Rosary a week and fasting on Fridays for her conversion of heart."

The speaker of the House is nominally Catholic, at best. For years, she has supported taxpayer-funded abortions.

Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House: "As a devout Catholic and mother of five in six years, it's not up to me to dictate what other people should do."

In June, the USCCB voted to approve writing a document on "Eucharistic coherence." Many believe the document would include guidelines about child-killing politicians not receiving the Eucharist. Pelosi was asked about the document.

Pelosi: "I think I can use my own judgment on that. I'm pleased with what the Vatican put out on that subject."

Today is the feast day of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, otherwise known as the "Little Flower." She's known for giving a rose as a sign of answered prayers.

The San Francisco archbishop notes, however:

The rose is also a symbol of our Blessed Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the "mystical rose." At this particular moment in the history of our nation, we need more than ever the intercession of our Blessed Mother, St. Thérèse and all other saints who have shown us the path to life.

It's a refreshing sign to see an American prelate using his leadership the right way. Some critics, however, believe Cordileone should have excommunicated Pelosi a long time ago.

In response to the Texas Heartbeat Act, the U.S. House recently passed H.R. 3755, which, if it becomes law, will impose abortion on demand nationwide.

Hopefully, this is Pelosi's last call to conversion before a well-deserved excommunication.

I was told, growing up in a Catholic school, that there are two kinds of possessed people: one kind are victims, the other are in full cooperation with the demons inhabiting them. You can’t help the latter.

Perfect possession is when a person fully cooperates with evil.

Catholics hope all good things. Let’s pray for her since only God knows the disposition of a soul

Hope above all things. Even St. Paul was converted albeit by Christ Himself.

Yes, I suppose free will is a gift that God never takes away, even up to the end. It’s just a matter of realizing the truth, and allowing truth to set you free.
