“Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof" (Proverbs 1:24-25).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof" (Proverbs 1:24-25).

The Bible says that He upholds all things by the word of his power. He is before all things. By him all things consist. By his continuing ever vigilant efforts He holds it all together. When the day comes that the Lord finally decides that it's time to make a new heaven and new earth at the end of the Millennium the Bible says that the elements themselves will melt with fervent heat. I think all He does is just release it. It's not like God has to blow it up, I think that all he does is release his efforts and cease the effort of holding it together.

And man, saved and lost, has the audacity to set at nought all his counsel? God know how to make stuff out of nothing. He can simply speak and make it, and having made it then uphold it by the word of His power, and when He offers you that word of advice in your own private life you set His counsel at nought?

That is in a nutshell what evolution is. It is just setting God’s counsel at naught. It’s saying, “No, God did make us. We made ourselves.” It's crazy when you stop and think about it. And did you know that there are even some “Christian” evolutionists? Well, He says you have set it at naught.

Dr. Hugh Pyle wrote a few years ago:

"Infidels, lawyers, judges and some educators and scientists are having a fit about stickers on science books in Georgia stating that evolution is just a theory. Since true science is a body of absolute fact, then the “monkey business” of evolution is, indeed, just a theory.

"To believe in a Creator makes the rebellious heart of man uncomfortable, for he dreads the thought of one day facing a holy God. My wife, while admiring a beautiful flower or a flaming sunset, has said, “It would surely take more faith to believe in evolution than to believe in God.”

"Unconverted educators hardly dare read, much less teach, the first two chapters of Genesis! Some just want to call it intelligent design. They know such a creation could not have just happened. Where did the intelligent design come from? If not God—from whence the intelligence?"

And then, the fourth hard charge, “. . . and would none of my reproof.” More often than not, sinners as we are, that reproof comes anytime God has something to say to us, we are going to get reproof along the way. Okay, we are sinners and the counsel, the instruction, that comes to us from the Lord is usually going to be preceded at some point or another by a reproof.

All those things being the case, verse 26 becomes the Lord’s response to these charges: “I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh.”

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

Scripture was there ahead of science by some thousands of years.

Only scientists, who claim there is no proof of God, recognize the power that is binding everything together and calling it the strong force, the weak force, gravitation, and magnetism.

Anything but God.

Hebrews 1:3
“The Son is the gleaming brightness of God’s glory. He is the exact likeness of God’s being. He uses his powerful word to hold all things together.”

Let everything be established by two or three witnesses.

I am aware of the verse in Colossians, but never noticed that one.

Thanks for posting it.
