To: ebb tide

Today’s gospel is from Mark chapter 9. Jesus says, “Anyone who is not against us is for us.”

Francis forgets that there are people who are against Christ and His church.

Jesus also tells us to love our enemies, but He tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves. We love ourselves and our families with care and prudence. So should we love our neighbors. Jesus tells us who our neighbors are also.

There is a difference between neighbor and enemy; distinguishing between them is prudent and prudence is a virtue.

And then there are all those unfortunates who are not enemies. Why can we not help them in their homelands?
