The Vatican prepared for the Synod on Synodality by "listening to everyone,” especially to those “who are at the existential peripheries,” Cardinal Grech, the Secretary General of the Synod, told LaVie.fr (September 11).
In reality, the Vatican is desperate to be with the mainstream, not with the “peripheries.”
Grech has a nihilistic concept of the Synod, “We don't need to agree on words, we just need to meet.” The Synod will not “confront opinions and points of view,” Grech explains, but is a “dialogue” to share “what we feel” the Holy Spirit is saying in us.
Asked whether the Catholics are ready for a Synod after the rift Francis caused with Traditionis Custodes and Amoris Laetitia, Grech pulls out the magic wand, “I really believe that synodality is ‘the’ answer to all the difficulties you have just highlighted!”
He insists that “we have all received the power of the Holy Spirit to speak” but “the bishops” are [= should be] the "authentic guardians,” “interpreters,” and “witnesses of the faith.”
After so much verbiage, Grech forsees a bad end, “If we don't believe that the Holy Spirit will blow, then the synod will be a failure.”
