I’m so old I remember when Notre Dame was a Catholic college. With what has happened at that place why should anyone be concerned at what happens at a high school?
You’re right—they never did push the Bible thing at Catholic schools. Catechism was more important than the three R’s.
Steve Seattle: sorry to hear that about the poor religious training you had. My experience in Catholic school was vastly different. As I recall, we sailed through the Baltimore Catechism in about half a year, then spent the next three and a half years reading passages from the entire Bible, and also studying Augustine and Aquinas and a few others. That on top of the “New Math” and weekly book reports. It was in that Catholic gradeschool I learned the binary/octal/hex numbering systems in conjunction with the basic “new” math operations that have stood me in good stead with computer programming. That was back in the early- to mid-’60’s.
