I have no doubt that God could punish the wicked, but most of the claims made about earthquakes and storms doing this in recent times seem to overlook the plainly evident fact that the wicked are not dropping in great numbers, rather it seems like a random casualty toll of people who are no more or less wicked than anyone else.
Also there is no really demonstrable upturn in the numbers of these events which have been happening for centuries or longer. Nor was there ever any real pattern of “targetting the wicked” with such events in the past. I think we are meant to accept that in the church age, God is not going to intervene until the end of the age, free will and random chance are the rules of this age, and when God does decide to punish the wicked, it will be much more obvious than these wide-ranging events that don’t seem focused on any particular type of people at all.
Some people will never hear the truth, even when it’s presented to them in black and white.
