I honestly wonder... has Bergoglio been to a TLM in the last 50 years? Frankly, I’m guessing not. At ~98% of Sunday TLMs I’ve attended worldwide over the past decade, the epistle and gospel are read in both Latin and the vernacular. That’s standard practice. The only exception is something like a Palm Sunday when the gospel is ultra-long. In that case, yes, it’ll be done in Latin only, but so what? Believe me, no one there even wants to hear the entire 20 minute thing repeated in the vernacular. Anyone who cares to can follow the translation in their missal. Everyone else already knows what it says because they’ve been at Palm Sunday like every year of their entire life.
