BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s health minister has criticized the Roman Catholic Church for its refusal to bless same-sex unions but says his religious faith remains strong.
Health Minister Jens Spahn, 40, married his husband, Daniel Funke, also 40, in 2017. Spahn described his relationship with the church as difficult at times, German news agency dpa reported Wednesday.
“My belief is deeply anchored inside of me,” dpa quoted Spahn as telling Germany’s Bunte magazine. He added that as a gay man he was aware of “the many mistakes the church has made in its long history.”
“There are priests who bless guinea pigs and motorcycles,” Spahn said. “But two people who love each other and are believers wishing for a blessing for their promise to be there for each other all life long are being rejected by the church.”
“This bothers and annoys me,” said the health minister, who has frequently appeared in German media since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. “But it does not lead to me turning away from my belief or the church.”

Give Frankie time.
He also has something else "deeply anchored inside" of him.
Too bad Rachel Levine isn’t Catholic. She’d make a great poster boy for this stuff too.
Two men do not and cannot love each other the way a husband loves his wife.
The only correct reply to any of the crap these deviants put forward is, “FU, sodomite.”
He needs to square his current religious faith with The Book of Romans.
A gay is angry at Christianity for condemning his behavior. But instead of finding a new religion, he attacks the religion that he does not believe in or refuses to follow.
Apparently reading the Bible is not part of it.
According to his Wikipedia entry, Jens Spahn was born on May 16, 1980 (in Ahaus). That would mean that he is currently 41 years old.
According to that same Wikipedia entry:
2020 äußerte er im Interview mit dem Magazin Focus: „Die Kirche ist ein Teil von mir, auch wenn sie mich manchmal ärgert“, da er als homosexueller Mann oft im Konflikt zur Kirche stehe.
This article is obviously outdated.
Regards,
Remember when homosexual activists were falling over themselves to assure us that they’d never demand doctrine changes of the Church if the definition of marriage were ever bent out shape to accommodate them? Remember? Apparently they don’t.
I have no clue what the German(?) paragraph says.
Is Spahn Catholic? Or, more likely, a CINO.
2020 äußerte er im Interview mit dem Magazin Focus: „Die Kirche ist ein Teil von mir, auch wenn sie mich manchmal ärgert“, da er als homosexueller Mann oft im Konflikt zur Kirche stehe.
In 2020, he said in an interview with the magazine Focus: "The Church is a part of me, even if it sometimes irritates me," because, as a homosexual, his is often in conflict with the Church.
Regards,
Calling it a "stance" is psychological warfare. "Stance" implies some sort of strategic negotiating position. The concepts of faith and morals is to be banished from the discussion, rather than directly criticized.
