“Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom” (Proverbs 18:1).
Folks, a wise parent will not allow their child to sequester themselves away and just stay locked in their rooms. Sadly, some parents are overwhelmed by their own kids. They are intimidated by their own kids. I know that there can be a delicate balance to it; but a kid ought not to be allowed to just lock himself in and just cut you out and you have nothing to do in his life until he wants to eat or until he needs somebody to wash his underwear. Right?
“Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.”
So, my question is those of you who want to be separated away for reasons other than reading and learning the Bible, or going to Bible preaching, or for prayer and so on, my question is what kind of wisdom are you intermeddling with? What kind of wisdom are you messing around with? It is a fair question. Some churches are still doing business for God, but often the secular world puts us to shame.
These are strange days when, as one humorist puts it, “One week you’re on the cover of Time, and the next week you are doing it.” One author has written a book about “Protecting Your Family in a Culture That’s Gone Stark Raving Mad!” How better to describe the mess our homes and schools are in?
A preacher friend said that after 9/11, America did not turn to God but to religion. Mere religion does little in catastrophic crisis limes. We need to get back to God, the Bible and holy standards of living if we expect God’s favor. Who preaches separation and godly living anymore? We need revival in the biblical sense! The world today seems to pay little attention to Bible-preaching churches except to ridicule them or link them with religious cults.
