All I ask is that you love and adore the One who died for you more than the man-made structure constructed around it.
I too grew up in the Catholic Church so I am not trying to be disrespectful. In fact, it is among the reasons I am so harsh about Pope Marx, but please, please make sure you have a deep and direct personal relationship with the One who gave Himself on the cross on our behalf.
