His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the rite of consecration of the restored Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God on the territory of the Theotokos Monastery in the capital city of Tatarstan today.
The consecration coincides with the feast of the Appearance of the Kazan Icon in 1579. The cathedral was restored over the course of 5 years, nearly identical to the original form of the cathedral that was blown up by the godless authorities on May 4, 1932.
The festivities began last night with the celebration of the All-Night Vigil at the Annunciation Cathedral in the Kazan Kremlin. The venerated copy of the Kazan Icon, which returned to the city from the Vatican in 2005, was displayed for the veneration of the faithful.

Today’s events began with a traditional procession with the copy of the Kazan Icon from the Annunciation Cathedral to the Kazan-Theotokos Monastery, at the site where the Kazan Icon originally appeared. The icon will permanently remain in the iconostasis of the right altar of the Kazan Cathedral.
“From this icon comes the power of grace. The grace of God, joy, and love are poured out on everyone who opens his heart to the Queen of Heaven,” said His Eminence Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan.

I glanced at the video - really gorgeous footage inside, thanks.
I’m so pleased. It’s a magnificent place.
Communists loved destroying religious properties.
Most (almost all) churches were either destroyed or “repurposed” into schools, museums, swimming pools, gyms, office buildings and even apartment buildings.
I am glad, that they are being fixed now.
Great news.
“I am glad, that they are being fixed now.
Great news.”
All Putin haters should know that it was Putin that brought religion back into the public square in Russia and allowed for it to blossom. His mother was a believer, and Putin wears her cross or keeps it close as a remembrance of his mother, and the fact that she brought him up with a knowledge and love of the Orthodox religion.
He has been behind having churches restored to their former glory, and has not stood in the way of his people choosing to once again openly participate in the religious experience. This has been an invaluable part of Putin’s reign; he is not just a thug as he too often is portrayed. By training he was KGB, but actually like Trump, Putin is a nationalist that puts Russia first above all.
For many of the years of his leadership, he has been loved by a majority of the Russian people. Now that he is getting long in the tooth, the Russian folks are going to crave a changing of the guard, and we know Putin will not give up the reins of power easily; however, Putin has never returned his country back to true communism, although he is basically an authoritarian by nature. But compared to how his country has been ruled in the past, he was and is a vast improvement over what went before.
Trump knows all of this and it is why he was able to get along with Putin on certain levels of diplomacy while remaining strong against Russian excesses that needed to be kept in check, like the Russian pipeline that he basically stopped, knowing it would not be good for Ukraine, Poland, and other of our Middle European allies.
Trump knew as well that in the long run creating a dependency on Russian oil in the EU would make it susceptible to Russian influence in the political and economic spheres.
Like in most of life, you get the good along with the bad. Biden, being a demented goofball, is guaranteed to louse up U.S. relations with Russia big-time and Putin knows only too well that Biden is a weakling. Putin respected Trump; Biden, not so much. To Putin, Biden is a useful idiot.
Ochen prekrasniah! Thank you for sharing. I have a miniature of the Kazan Theotokos icon I purchased in Bethlehem years ago. How amazing to see the deep Christian piety in old Russia that is so rare now in America! The Marxists and socialists have done their job well.
Well, looking at this, I see a huge religious awakening in Russia, the country, where the religion was terribly suppressed for over 70 years.
It gives me a hope, we will see similar awakening sometimes here too.
