'The Grindr app and similar hookup apps use mobile device location data to allow users to see a listing of other nearby users of the app, to chat and exchange images with nearby users within the app, or to arrange a meeting for the sake of an anonymous sexual encounter.

Commercially available app signal data does not identify the names of app users, but instead correlates a unique numerical identifier to each mobile device using particular apps. Signal data, collected by apps after users consent to data collection, is aggregated and sold by data vendors. It can be analyzed to provide timestamped location data and usage information for each numbered device.

The data obtained and analyzed by The Pillar conveys mobile app data signals during two 26-week periods, the first in 2018 and the second in 2019 and 2020. The data was obtained from a data vendor and authenticated by an independent data consulting firm contracted by The Pillar.

The Pillar correlated a unique mobile device to Burrill when it was used consistently from 2018 until at least 2020 from the USCCB staff residence and headquarters, from meetings at which Burrill was in attendance, and was also used on numerous occasions at Burrill’s family lake house, near the residences of Burrill’s family members, and at a Wisconsin apartment in Burrill’s hometown, at which Burrill himself has been listed as a resident.

That’s a good question, I think that would be a part of it.

It seems there is “anonymized” data used for marketing that it tied to a particular device such as a cell phone.

But, if you know where the guy works, and you know where he lives, then you can figure out with anonymized device is his and the marketing data contains all the information.

There’s no telling how much data is in there or what you can do accomplish with this method. No telling how far back you can go, either. 10 years or more?

My point is, if you are involved in civil litigation, or family court, or have a business competitor you want to target, why would you NOT be using this method?

Why isn’t every large law firm in the nation doing it as part and parcel of their representation?

So, you can’t see the phone number, just the number Grndr or whatever App asigns to the “user”. But then you can see where that user was when he logged in to the App, is that it?

So, as long as it is a place that is not full of people, you can figure out who the user is. Is this how it works?

So, if you want to use this stuff you should go to Grand Central station at rush hour and use it. Am I getting this right?

And is my location data out there too? Not that I go on Grnder, mind you, obviously, but I do use that location function often enough, and my stupid phone always seems to know where I’m going when I get in the car, which is pretty creepy in itself.

I feel like we should all throw our phones away now. I mean, I’m glad it was revealed what this hypocritical man was doing, but don’t you think some folks already knew what he was up to?

I agree, it’s going to be all this stuff all the time, but still nobody’s going to care about Hunter Biden and his right-in-your-face corruption. And we’ll have to wait and see if John Stewart has anything to say about anything, because it seems the Media listens to him. So, I don’t know, but I’m not seeing any improvement in the human condition here AT ALL.
