Tish a B’Av is one of the most tragic days in the Jewish Calendar, and the whole Book of Lamentations is read during the service.

Lamentations is SO sad...but...right smack in the middle of it is a verse of hope which inspired this little hymn:

The Steadfast Love of the Lord never ceases,
His mercies never come to an end.
They are new every morning,
New every morning,
Great is Thy faithfulness, Oh Lord,
Great is Thy faithfulness.

In 1492 on the same date, TishB’Av, all Jews were expelled from Spain, by order of the “Holy order” of the Inquisition. There were forced conversions, family separations, pogroms, and much loss of property.

And then the next morning, Christopher Columbus (crypto Jew?) set sail, his journey of discovery funded by the same powers that be.

He was minded to sail west in order to go east, and by doing so, discovered a whole new world.

I speculate that the Abomination of Desolation event referred to by Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:15 and by Daniel in 9:27 might be seen on a 9th day of Av.
