PROFITING FROM PROVERBS – 7/11/2021

“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself” (Proverbs 11:25 KJV).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself” (Proverbs 11:25 KJV).

There is only one place where a Christian ought to be liberal—and that’s in his giving. He is not to be liberal in his politics—indeed, how could a Bible-believing Christian ever support the liberal agenda? He ought not to be liberal in his philosophy, and he certainly shouldn’t be liberal in his doctrinal beliefs. When it comes to giving, though, he ought to be as liberal as he can be.

Some Christians are so conservative that it extends into their wallet and pocketbooks as well, but “the liberal soul shall be made fat!” Looks like some are missing out on a real blessing. They “shall be made fat,” that is done by another.

“Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints” (II Corinthians 8:1-4 KJV).

The Macedonians out of their deep poverty gave themselves to the Lord, and the Lord took care of them. They were sweet people, they were blessed people, they didn’t have any problems in their church. Why? Because they were a giving people. You take the Corinthians, on the other hand, Paul was always on them about their giving and they had all kinds of trouble in their church—they were a carnal bunch—they didn’t have the grace and spiritual qualities that they needed to handle the issues of life, because they weren’t giving anything.

You don’t give, you don’t get. It’s the same principle in farming. You don’t spend time sowing the seed in the field, you don’t produce any crops. In our capitalistic, free enterprise system, you have to spend money to make money. And when it comes to the spiritual side of it, God just expects you to give faithfully.

Faith always has evidence and it always has substance. When you give to missions—it isn’t just throwing money out the window—we can’t go across the ocean, but we can send someone in our stead. And they guy is going to lead souls to Christ. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

Amen.

Although, I might add that Marxists change the meaning of our words so as to obfuscate their true meaning.

“Liberal”, in it’s original sense, means “generous, abundant, beneficial, and open.

The left has misappropriated the word, just as they have distorted the meaning of the word “gay” (which used to mean happy and carefree), or the meaning of our symbols, such as the RAINBOW.

Anyway, thank you for your daily thread and for your faithfulness!

You are absolutely correct . . . words change their meaning over time to fit the users intent.
