“O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things” (Proverbs 8:5-6).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things” (Proverbs 8:5-6).

People will always say, “Well, you just think you're right and everyone else is wrong!” Well, yeah. If I say, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21), it’s as good as if God spoke those words Himself. Or if we say, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3, 5), it’s as good as if Jesus Himself was saying it, because He did. So, yeah, I think I’m right and you are wrong if you disagree with me there. So, yeah, pretty much, yeah.

If it's from the Bible and if it is right, and as long as it isn’t misapplied, wrested, perverted, perverse; it is right. “Well, you think you’re right, and everybody else is wrong,” yeah, yeah, that's about it.

I’ve always liked this lady in Proverbs 31, not only because she reminds me so much of the woman that God blessed me with for 42 years, but also because I believe she a type of the church. Anyway, this virtuous woman of verse 10 and all these characteristics of hers that are really noble.

“She riseth also while it is yet night [the night is far spent, and the day is at hand, right?], and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. [And then it says . . .] She perceiveth that her merchandise is good” (Proverbs 31:15-18).

You know, folks, that there's nothing wrong with you knowing that you’ve got good stuff. There’s nothing wrong with you knowing that you're going to the right church that teaches the right things and has the right opinion about things. Don’t be apologetic about that. You’ve got the good goods if you are grounded in the word of God. And you all know that I believe there is only one for the English-speaking people. I’m not going to apologize for that either.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
