The root cause of sterilizations is fear of the future and a lack of trust in God. Often, such a state of mind is the result of a deficient relationship with God, or because of various psychological wounds caused during the developmental period of a person’s life. (If the woman or man could not trust their own father growing up, they will find it difficult to trust God.)
In this case, what we need to avoid is the cynical approach “it’s easier to beg forgiveness than to get permission.” Such a calculating posture is no way to deal with God.
However, I have known many cases of good people who were simply given bad advice and chose to be sterilized. Coming to their senses they have regretted their decisions, repented in the Sacrament of Confession, and sought the mercy of God...

Oh please. So God wants every person to breed for 20+ years? The catholic church is way out of date.
No. But He did not intend for sex to be so wrapped up in fear, self-indulgence, and materialistic calculations. It’s a total mutual giving of the self rooted in a complete freedom found in trusting God — not obstructing, or contracepting the divine.
Also there are natural family planning methods the Church fully endorses that complement the natural rhythms of our bodies.
Were I younger, no way would I want to reproduce in this imploding country., and it has nothing to do with trust in God; it’s about total distrust in the wretched excuse of humanity running things here on earth.
The Catholic Church wants more Catholics! so yeah, it’s all babies, all the time.
Even in countries where they can’t afford to feed one.

There’s a very simple way to avoid breeding without having to slice and dice yourself. God gave us a brain capable of figuring that out.
The Pope seems very selective on the need for repentance.
No thanks. That is ridiculous. No wonder Catholicism is a dying brand.
If you reproduce, your children will be part of turning things around in this country. A lot of the woe around us will fade out because many people who hate America and think humans are bad do not breed. Who is hort-lived? Homosexuals. Long-lived? Mothers of big families. We are the children of a Living God.
There will be no turnaround, because the emerging majority prefer a
weak, socialistic America. We read right here in FR story after story of the coming downfall of the US. I’ve fathered two children and I fear for their future and that of my grandchildren every day. You don’t think welfare queens in the inner cities aren’t breeding? The fact is they are, and the result is a new generation of urban ferals every few years. We are in an inexorable downward spiral and the only question is how hard that landing will be.
If you’re sterilized and regret it, adopt. There are millions of adoptable children worldwide.
God’s primary goal in creating this universe and everything in it is to populate heaven with many billions of humans. He wants us to cooperate and assist; His exact command was, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth...”
