My Jesus Tis of Thee - SONG and VIDEO (John 3:16-17, 1 Peter 7-9; 2:6-7, 1 John 4:19)
My Jesus Tis of Thee, Author of liberty, of Thee I sing I love Thy righteous ways, Thy mercy and Thy grace I will FOREVER praise, Thy precious Name
O Lamb my offering, Thy wondrous love for me, o'r whelms my soul Thy pierced hands testify, of wondrous love Divine, Thy shed blood shall EVER bind, my heart to Thee
O Lord I cried to Thee, Thou came and ransomed me, from Satan's night Dead in my sinful ways, no hope in death's cruel chains I trusted in Thy Name and now I'm free!
Jesus our Victory, seated in Majesty, the Lord of all! Let every tongue confess and every creature bless Thy Name and righteousness FOREVERMORE!
Amen
I LIKE that
It's worthy of publication imo
Our father's God to Thee, Author of liberty,Sang it every day as part of "morning exercises" in kindergarten, but we switch to the first verse in first grade due to a court decision.
To thee we sing.
Long may this land be bright with Freedom's Holy Light.
Protect us by Thy Might, Great God our King.
Public school in NYC it was.
Showing my age I'm afraid. :)
By the way, a question, as a Catholic who was raised post-Vatican II:
- They’ve always sang patriotic songs as we exit the Mass. Did this happen pre-Vatican II?
Into
My Country Tis of Thee
What a day today is turning out to be. It's like when those wild demoniacs admitted that they knew:
Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
As it is written,
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."
Wow! Those were the days!! Hard to believe that kids once sang that amazing verse!
No a man name Earl Taylor did; it’s a repost.
Opps; Wrong reply; we did.
Boston public school ... I remember only 1st verse in 1st grade ... I'm 73, so circa maybe 1953 or 4
