You call yourself a Christian yet you are quick and arrogant to insult a Christian man who is dead who made the -in your calculus- mistake of addressing the end times.

I take it that you mean the redoubtable Mr. Miller.

He's a case point. His arrogance (and ignorance) gave American Christianity the Great Disappointment, and held up to ridicule the fundamental Christian tenet of the Eschaton.

The spiritual pride of his followers led them to formulate one of the most bizarre tenets of Christian history - the Sanctuary Doctrine of the SDAs - as a way of clinging to their clearly untenable beliefs. Miller's Great Disappointment also gave us the JWs, 'nuff said.

If there's any arrogance here it belongs to those who invent completely novel doctrines in order to avoid admitting that they were chumped.

I was referring to your insulting smear of Hal Lindsey. I have no use for cults.

The spiritual pride of his followers led them to formulate one of the most bizarre tenets of Christian history - the Sanctuary Doctrine of the SDAs...

Can you tell me what happened in 1844? We clearly have a 2300 day/YEAR prophecy, beginning at the same time as the 490 YEAR prophecy in Daniel 9, and ending in 1844.

Daniel 8:14And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

It’s prophecy, so it’s obviously important to God, and He wants us to know about it. And, the totality of the vision made an impact on Daniel, because he fainted and was sick for some time, just thinking about it.

Daniel 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

Daniel didn’t understand the vision. Then in Daniel 9, he prays to God. Gabriel is sent to make him understand.

Daniel 9:21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.

23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

So, what happened in 1844, at the end of the 2300 day/YEAR prophecy? Here are the verses for you to consider:

Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered.

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Boatbums, metmom, MHGinTN, caww. and anyone else, are welcome to give their opinion. (If I invite Cronos, he’s just going to give the Jesuit lie that Nero was the Antichrist, and that Jerusalem is the Harlot City, and he won’t give serious consideration to the prophecy under discussion)
