Modernize....
Track lighting, lava lamps, Black velvet Elvis artwork and rows of big screen TVs showing loops of Bible scenes from movies. That should bring it up to date.

Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit said in a statement that the goal was "to bring the cathedral into the 21st century, while ensuring the preservation of its identity in the spirit of the Christian tradition." Something tells me that this is not going to end well.

Throw a McDonald’s franchise in the sacristy and it’ll pay for itself.

They need to hire Little P Bush. He’s currently working on modernizing the Alamo.

The regulations around Notre Dame’s funds are due to a law that was passed shortly after the fire. First Post explains that the law stipulates that funds raised via the public subscription may only be used to maintain the structure and historic aspects of the building.Seems that the secular French government has more respect than Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit, who was promoted to both bishop, and later Archbishop, during Bergoglio's reign of terror.

Here's what modernists do:
Cathedral of St Mary's Basilica in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, dedicated in 1847.
Note: the high altar and tabernacle, front and center.
Compare to:
Co-cathedral of the Sacred Heart in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, dedicated in 1990:
Note: No high altar, no visible tabernacle, and the bishop's chair, is front and center, where the tabernacle should be.
