“Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house" (Proverbs 5:6-8).

KEYWORDS:
“Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house" (Proverbs 5:6-8).

One thing never changes and that is that the Catholic Church keeps changing; but then, it really doesn't change. If you were to confront the average Catholic at St. Whoever or Whatever with the idea that the Catholic Church is responsible for 60 million deaths in the dark ages they would say, what? “But the Catholic Church has changed at the council of Trent and all that, but they changed.” And we’d have to agree that there were some things that superficially changed; but when you read carefully, you’ll find it didn’t change at all.

Now, the Catholic Church here in America has adapted herself quite well, don't you think? For instance, she learned that she can't get quite the same foothold to this point in America that she had in Europe in 1400 A.D. She's adapted herself quite well. She has gotten along with democracy okay, and she has sent her soldiers to war just like the average American goes to war. She has gradually embedded a few justices on the Supreme court and some senators and so on; and maybe there's a new day coming. But her ways are changing, “lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.”

Have you ever had somebody that you just couldn't pin down because they just always had an excuse? They always had a new twist, or a new turn, and they were just too slick. You could never nail them down. Well, somehow the Catholic Church has escaped through all of history. The Bible says, when you get to Revelation 18 that when the Lord judges her, she is responsible, basically, for all the bloodshed. You wouldn't be able to sell that to average Joe in America for ten years. Why? Because she’s slick. Because she’s movable, “lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.”

Verse 7, “Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.”

Verse Seven is a great verse in light of what we just read, because there are some things that we have a hard time nailing down. There are a lot of things that we are basically ignorant of.

“Hear me now therefore,” because of what he said before in verses 4-6. “O you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth,” why? because you know in the end, if you're not going by the Bible, you are going to get messed up somewhere. That woman is slicker than you are. Her husband is the devil. He inspires her, and you're going to get twisted up; if not with some woman or man, practically in this life if you're not following the Bible, you're going to get messed up with that woman or Satan or the world or the flesh in this world.

If you're not going by the Bible, there's going to be sometimes that it doesn't make sense what the Bible tells you to do, but you still have to follow the Bible.

“Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house,” he’s still talking about her. There are some folks that you ought to stay away from. You really need to profile some people. Some people you look at from a short distance and go, “I don't think so,” and walk away. You say, “That's judging!” Exactly! It sure it, and you’ll be much safer for it.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
