PROFITING FROM PROVERBS – 6/1/2021
King James Bible | 6/1/2021 | pilgrimsprogress

“If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil” (Proverbs 1:11-13)

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil” (Proverbs 1:11-13)

I don't know how you raise a kid in innocency anymore. I understand there are some things that you can you can do to make positive amends for it, but all in all just driving down the street is enough to expose the next generation to more filth and degradation than previous generations have seen.

So, if there's any answer to it then we, as adults, have to labor all the time against it as far as keeping our hearts and minds pure. The Bible and the Lord Jesus Christ are the only hope your children have; and, if you grow old enough to have grandchildren, I promise you that those are the only hopes for them as well, because this world is pervasive. Honestly, I can’t imagine how things can get worse but give it another 40 years going in the direction America is heading and there is just no telling how wicked this nation can become. We live in a world of darkness as far as just being in this present evil world, and if the Bible and the Lord Jesus Christ aren't the real answer, then there is no real answer. There is a conspiracy against innocency, that's for sure.

“We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil.” Okay, there's a conspiracy against innocency. In the end, what is the motive? Consider the last word in verse 13, “spoiled.” In this context, look at verse 19, “So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.” Our King James Bible says in first Timothy chapter 6:10 that the “love of money is the root of all evil,” and every version including the new King James changes that thing to it's the root of all sorts of evil or all kinds of evil. No, “the love of money is the root of all evil.”

Behind every form of wickedness somebody is making money off of that same wickedness. It even defiles us in the process, if we aren’t careful; and we are just kind of fodder for the guys motives. When you start thinking about what they've done with everything that you can name; obviously the drugs are for money, and it's most likely what makes politics go round. One might insist, “No, politics is just about ambition.” Well, how many “poor” politicians do you know?

It may seem precipitous to some that you would say that the love of money is the root of all evil, but in the end every form of transgression iniquity and trespassing there is in this world, somebody's making a big dollar out of the fact the love of money is the root of all evil.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

Reminds me of a particular Psalm:

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2064&version=KJV

Psalm 64 - King James Version

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
