Solemnity of The Holy Trinity - and what we don't understand about the mystery as known to the Church Fathers.....
Part of the interpretation of the Trinity may be metaphysical, but the underlying importance of the Trinity is mathematical and physical. It turns out that all of numbers, arithmetic, algebra, etc., can be derived from an observer/actor making a distinction and marking its meaning. In the Laws of Form, George Spencer-Brown concludes: “We see now that the first distinction, the mark, and the observer are not only interchangeable, but, in the form, identical.”
To me, this conclusion from Laws is a clear statement that there had to be a Creator/Observer of the Universe. The Laws of Form also dictate that He remains the Creator/Observer thought the Universe. The distinction, the mark, and the observer are another manifestation of the Trinity, the Three in One. It maps directly to what the Hebrew Sages mean when they say the Ain Sof (the immutable one) created the World with Number, Text, and Communication. Number = the distinction. Text = the mark, and Communications = the observer. There can be no observation without the state of the distinction and mark being communicated.
Number, Text and Communication also map into The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Remember John tells us that Jesus was the Word.
