“As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place” (Proverbs 27:8).
I used to struggle with this a little bit about exactly what is meant here, and finally tested it with the Bible. I think I know. “As a bird that wandereth from her nest,” well, it is not terribly normal for a mama bird with baby birds in the nest to wander away and never come back. It just is not done. Several things about this. When Abraham returned to his place, do you know where he went? He went home. I read where Laban returned to his place after chasing Jacob around the country. Do you know where he went? He went home. I read where, for instance, the men of Israel stayed in their place on the night of the Passover. Where were they? They were home. Over and over again. I find this in the word of God. Balaam went back to his place, he went home. Saul went back his place, he went home.
Well, by the Bible then, “As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.” Do you know what folks ought to do more? Folks ought to stay home more. So, home is where the heart is, Right? Home is where your family is. Home is where you have fellowship with your wife and family and children. We are increasingly living in a day where it seemed like folks are never home. The kids are never home together with the parents, unless it is bedtime. Sometimes the parents are never home together. Maybe you should go home.
I am not saying you should stay home from church. Church ought to be an extension of your home. I am not saying you should never go on vacation, or that you should never go fishing. I do not find it strange that a guy goes hunting, or the guy goes fishing. It is not strange that the ladies will get together to have fellowship with each other. Those things are normal within moderation, right? I do not find that weird at all.
If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

There’s not enough context on this one to put much deep meaning to it. Possible Solomon was refering to wandering husband.
And before you think of give a snarky response back, consider:
6 The wounds of a friend are faithful, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Lol
God’s word isn’t always about “deep meanings” . . . most of the time its “in yo face!” It was Mark Twain that said, “It ain’t those parts of the Bible that I can’t understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand.”
“God’s word isn’t always about “deep meanings”
Of course. But my point was sometimes you should not try to put “deeper meaning” to a verse where there simply is not much context to really understand the main point the writer was trying to make, like this one. Men should not go and explore and settle new lands, etc. ? The early American settlers and Pilgrims were being bad, wandering away from their homes?
